Mission Statement
Our mission is "to ensure that the valuable natural resources of inland fisheries and sea angling are being conserved, restored, managed, developed and promoted in their own right and to support sustainable economic activity, job creation and recreational amenity"
The Goals of the Southern Regional Fisheries Board:

Conserve, protect and enhance inland fisheries and sea angling habitats through relevant resource conservation methods
Manage a quality fisheries resource that contributes and optimises economic, social, environmental and recreational benefits to local and national communities

Develop tourism angling and recreational angling facilities, in co-operation with the relevant stakeholders, by identifying and marketing "angling" to specific markets based on research of the product in the region

Promote an awareness and knowledge of the fisheries resource and encourage increased participation in fisheries related activities

Work in partnership with relevant stakeholders in order to undertake specific activities in a more efficient and effective manner

To ensure the protection of all fish species and their habitats by adhering to, reviewing and up-dating fisheries legislation

To develop staff skills for the mutual benefit of both the Board and staff

Ensure that the Board has the necessary equipment and facilities at its disposal to carry out its functions in an efficient and effective manner

Ensure that the Health and Safety of staff, anglers and the general public is protected at all times

Input into national fisheries initiatives such as the review of Pike management, a review of the management of state fisheries, a review of the use of hatcheries, a review of financial management and IT systems in the Fisheries Boards

Undertake all activities in an open and transparent manner and provide a higher quality service to anglers, the public and all other relevant stakeholders
Develop a strategy for the production and delivery of fish for fisheries enhancement works

Utilise IT to benefit the operations of the Board
