Commercial Fishing

The Southern Regional Fisheries Board is responsible for some inshore fisheries. In particular it has responsibility for administering and licencing all commercial salmon fishing in its region. It is also responsible for commercial inland eel fisheries. In addition the Board is charged with the protection of inshore mollusc fisheries.

This section of the website explains the proceedures for applying for licences, costs and links to relevant legislation and regulations.

There are 4 types of commercial licence holder - Drift Net, Draft Net, Snap Net, Head Weir and , within our Board.
